New Music Gathering Interactive Insructions by Scott Farkas

These were the interaction instructions from our installation at the New Music Gathering in June of 2023!


what is it?


  • a gallery of sound making objects with a clear plan for everyone to participate in making sound!



  • a unique, exciting, and fun artisitic experience hosted by local artists and curated by the experimental music group ‘uncle drum hands’



  • a fun and safe opportunity to interact with art making!


Who is it for?


  • Everyone!



  • anyone who is interested will find it easy and fun to participate in this event - whether you are an experienced professional musician, an avocational musician, or have never played music before. Easy to follow instructions will allow anyone who comes to participate to their level of comfort in a relaxed setting!


what to expect?


  • a chance to be a part of the show by making sound in our uniquely curated sound gallery

  • Easy to understand instructions (see below) and prompts to guide you in your participation

  • Chances to simply listen and enjoy the sound textures happening around you

  • cool, home made instruments to play with!

  • a unique venue to explore and enjoy

  • great times, great friends, great art, and an experience you’ll remember for years to come!


what do i need?


  • an open and adventurous spirit

  • a healthy love for sound and art

  • that’s it! we will supply the rest!

  • Maybe a light jacket - it’s january, and it might be chilly!

  • The cherry pit (seattle central district) 2518 e. cherry street, seattle, wa

  • First sounds: 12:00PM!

  • Last Sounds: 10:00pm!

  • Come for a little while or a long while, play through it once or multiple times, listen for a while if you like. this is open for you to enjoy in whatever way is meaningful to you!
